OBX Vacation

You know when you get home from vacation, back to your everyday life, and when someone asks you a question you realize you completely forgot how to talk to people, form sentences or make decisions? I call it Post-Vaca Brain. I got back from our family vacation to Hatteras OBX August 31st and still have full blown P-VB with a month of wishing to still be on a beach the my favorite people on earth. Sentences are not a thing, pants are not a thing, and not having a drink around 10am is definitely NOT yet a thing.

So in an effort to learn how to be a normal “adult” again and reminisce over our amazing family time I’m sharing my vacation memories with all of you. My parents rented a house called ‘Atlantis’, guarded by a seashell bra bombshell mermaid and we packed it full with my parents, my sister and brother and their families and me and C. Eight adults, 4 kids and an absurd amount of food, alcohol, and sand. Just as every vacation house should be. We spent everyday between the beach and our pool (a dream for the nuggets and nana!) surfing, boogey boarding, paddle boarding, swimming, drinking, laughing and sharing stories. Two nights were spent on the beach with a fire and fishing poles and the rest around our large dinner table with whoevers turn it was to make a home cooked meal. Seven days of bliss and even if we’d had another full week added, it wouldn’t of been enough time.

Now that I’ve moved to Arlington and on my own, out of any state where family lives, going home from vacation is pretty sad and lonely. As this was my first completely alone post-vacation time, tears and photo browsing filled my entire return home Sunday night. Missing my family was the understatement of the century.

I’m so grateful to have family I absolutely adore, the chance to be an aunt to the most amazing nuggets, and the opportunities we have to travel and spend time together. While I won’t bombard this post with the thousands of photos I took, here are a few of my favorites that we all took. I hope you’ve had the chance this summer to spend time with loved ones and enjoy the sunshine with laughter and building stories to take into Fall.
