Thank you Cameron Hughes for sponsoring this post. Wine and dine your way into summer and raise a toast to everyone’s favorite season!
As a travel blogger, I’m always looking for the next trip opportunity, location collaboration, and/or planning details for favorite spots all over the globe. I’m constantly counting down until the next adventure so when my schedule hits a point where I don’t have anything for weeks or even months I start to go a little crazy. Mama bear says I haven’t sat still since I could crawl and nothing has changed. I’m sure some of you are shaking your heads yes right about now. But don’t fret, because I’ve come up with a new “between travels” solution to feed your travel hunger…Staycations. Yes! I’ll be the first to say I’ve scoffed at the idea because I didn’t really understand what they were about. The best way to describe them would be: a fun weekend acting like a tourist in your own city.
For me, a staycation has to have three things, delicious food, and wine and enjoying at least one of the perks of your city and time to relax and rejuvenate after the long winter months. I’ve been lucky to team up with Cameron Hughes wine for my guide to planning the ultimate staycation in your city. First, pick your weekend and block it out. Don’t get to Friday and accept the last minute travel or work project. COMMIT.
Spa Time
Pamper yourself without having to put pants on. Take a few hours to soak in a bubble bath, face mask on, deep hair conditioning in and body butter close by for smooth, relaxed and refreshed body and mind.
Your very own charcuterie board and wine pairings
I am obviously a travel lover but there have been many times that I came home even more exhausted and in need of a vacation. I think it’s the two full days of travel that does it, or maybe getting home and checking my bank account. This is why staycations are so amazing. Not only are you saving money but your start and end travels consist of jumping out of bed. I love to include Cameron Hughes Wine because it has the same chill vibes I want for my staycation. It’s all about what’s inside the bottle, no fancy label, simple website… just high quality wine at affordable prices.
P.S. Free shipping when you purchase 3 bottles of wine! Code: INEEDWINE18
Play Tourist
I live in the DC area and I can’t tell you how many little places I want to go and never seem to find the time to visit. This staycation is your time to do just that. Go eat at those restaurants you always walk past and go visit that museum or new shop you’ve been eyeing. We opted for a Nationals game and nearby brewery. Enjoy your city to the fullest.
Reflection time
However you may choose to spend time with yourself do so. I try to find somewhere I can sit for a little while and stare into an open area. I’m lucky to have our balcony which looks out over our Arlington garden and DC skyline. With a glass of wine, feet propped up and gaze into the open air, you’re sure to drift into staycation reflection.
Where do you live? What staycations tips do you have for your own city?
