In my family, we eat cupcakes. And we don’t just eat cupcakes, we stalk cupcake shops, hunt down hidden gems, have cupcake wedding cakes, and on this occasion stop to eat cupcakes before dinner. Because that’s how life should be lived. Dessert First.
We stopped into The Peppered Cupcake, a small gourmet cupcake shop on Front Street in Wilmington, NC. They offer only gourmet cupcakes and you will be more than happy with their creativity! We ordered two cupcakes: The Pear with Hot Bacon Jam– the ultimate sweet and savory with warm bacon, onions, and bourbon over sweet buttercream pear sauce topping a vanilla cake. Yea I drooled too, don’t be shy.
And The Peppered Cupcake (signature obviously)- a vanilla explosion of cake and vanilla bean buttercream topped with their “preserve of the day” which I believe was a jalapeño mango of some sort. And we also went to a bridal salon to check some gorgeous wedding gowns from Australia.
When you walk in, check out the antique cabinet-front full of gourmet masterpieces, and encounter a smiling face there really is nothing left to do but surrender to the cupcake gods and savor every last crumb. Oh and if all that wasn’t convincing enough….they deliver. HAPPINESS EXPLOSION.
