When I first joined Pinterest, one of the first DIYs I fell in love with was this gorgeous gold geo mug I saw. I knew I wanted to make my own and I FINALLY got around to doing so. I’m moving soon and I wanted something modern and chic to add to my new kitchen without spending a ton. I started collecting inexpensive white mugs whenever I saw them and dove into these super quick and easy DIY Gold Geometric Spray Painted Mugs.
::MATERIALS::
Krylon Gold Metallic Spray Paint, Krylon Crystal Clear Gloss Spray Paint, 4-6 White Coffee Mugs, Painters Tape
::HOW TO::
1.Decide what geometric shapes you’d like on your mugs. I love simple so I went with triangles and rectangles and lines. But you could always get crazy with them!
Use your Painters Tape to create the shapes and be sure to tape off the top (the opening) of your mug so you don’t get any spray paint on the inside.
2.Spray your first layer of gold onto your mugs. Spray about 2 inches from mugs and be sure to go lightly. You’ll be doing two layers so don’t worry about spraying to much the first time. You’ll know if you’re spraying too much because it’ll start to drip.
3.Let the first layer dry (the best part about this specific paint is it only take about 15 min to dry!!) then spray a second coat and let dry.
4. For the last coat, spray on a thin layer of your clear sealant. This will give the gold a final gorgeous matte, metallic look.
5.You can choose to let it dry for another hour or over night. I chose over night just to be safe. The next morning I slowly peeled off the painters and revealed the fun chic golden geometric shapes.
6. Fill your beautiful cups with coffee and serve to adoring guests! Congratulations you crafty thang!
